Leander Nursery Furniture

This week the new Leander Matty arrived in an array of gorgeous colours, we have also had a lot of deliveries for lovely pregnant couples among these orders has been the Leander Baby - Junior Bed and a few Mattys. It has really been a week filled with Leander loveliness so I thought it was about time that I gave it a shout out!

Style, Longevity, Economic Sense

What are the things to consider when buying nursery furniture? Firstly, what is your style preference? With so many design-led brands producing fantastic looking furniture you can furnish your childs room in a style that matches you own taste rather than a generic 'isn't this just what everyone buys' style. Secondly, picking something that has longevity should also be a consideration. When you're pregnant it is often difficult to see beoynd your first days and weeks together as a family, so many purchasing decisions are made with only the first six months in mind but your nursery furniture should last well in to their toddler years and beyond. With this in mind I always offer solutions that look great whether they have a changing unit as part of them or not. Longevity of use is offers convenience, economic sense and is surely more environmentally sustainable. I like cots that have the option to extend to a toddler bed and some last even longer with the option of converting to a single bed. Well made furniture should be built to last so why should it not offer a place for you little one to rest their head throughout childhood.

Shape, Functionality and Honest Materials

Leander, the Danish furniture design company believes in 'shape, functionality and honest materials.' The range offers a baby bed which will expand to a junior bed so your child can have the same beautifully designed bed for the first 7 years of their life. Matching furniture pieces are a two door wardrobe, a three drawer chest and a changing table. Leander is made from Beechwood as it is strong, stable and flexible enabling them to create stunning curved lines.

The baby bed has a lovely round end mattress supplied in the UK by Little Green Sheep (keep a look out for further blog articles about this great mattress brand). You can adjust the bed to a toddler bed and use the extension kit and mattress extension for a junior bed.

The wood is lacquered 2-3 times with a water based lacquer which is envrionmentally friendly. The four colour finishes, white, grey, walnut and white wash are soft and modern. I love the idea of mixing and matching perhaps with a white baby bed and wardrobe and a grey chest. The quirky touches such as the fabric handles make this furntiure really unique and appealing, everything about it feels soft to touch.

Marvelous Matty

I am a huge advocate of the Leander Matty. This 100% waterproof, high sided, super durable changing mat will really stand the test of time. I like the non-slip feet on the bottom to stop it slipping so you can use it on any surface. Best off all you don't need to use a towel liner as the moulded PUR material is soft to your touch and to your baby's bottom!

The new colours are rather fab and it is available in the colours shown below. Grey seems to be super popular, but the orange is a favourite for me, I love that pop of colour in a nursery.

With the price of the baby bed starting at £695 (without mattress) this is a great investment. If it was down to a style choice this would win for me every time.
